Dabur company has sought to buy patchouri, stevia and many other aromatic and medicinal plants from Manipur.
Highly placed sources on Saturday disclosed that apart from Dabur, Emami and other companies are there in the queue.
The Manipuri variety of patchouri has more medicinal values as compared to others found elsewhere. Body powder and other aromatic substances can be made from it. Stevia from which sugar free sweetners are manufactured is found in Senapati district.
The department of commerce and industries is organizing a workshop cum conference in Imphal on aromatic and medicinal plants on April 13 at the city convention hall. Subject experts and high officials will take part in it. Govindas Konthoujam will be the Chief Guest.
